Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

7 kms. from the town of Bharatpur lies one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world - The Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary. Formally known as Bharatpur Bird sanctuary, this place was once a hunting ground for the royals of the past. Keoladeo bacame sanctuary inBharatpur Birding,The Wildlife TRavels 1956 and finally received total protection in 1981. The area consists of swamp lands and lakes consisting one of the most important species of the world - Heron Geese. The total area of the park is 29 Sq. kms. There are around 200 species of birds who live in the park and one can also witness the finest and rarest Siberian Cranes who migrate here all the way from Siberia during winters. The park is the breading ground for these great birds. Some other more common species found in the park are Painted Storks, Darters, Spoonbills, White Abis, Pelicans and hundreds of more. One can also have the glimpses of Wild Boar, Mongoose, Spotted Dears, Hyenas, Jungle Cats, Jackals, Otters, Neelgai, Sambhars, Rock Pythans and above all the Rare Indian Black Buck.

» Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

This Sanctuary is just 16 kms. from Mysore. The sanctuary is situated on a small island in river Kaveri. The forest is MANGROVE SWAMP.The temperature of the sanctuary stays in the range of 23–29°C for most of the year. it is an important Asian nesting and breeding ground for migratory birds from all across the earth. The most commonly seen birds are OPENBILL STORK, WHITE IBIS, SPOONBILL, EGRETS, CORMORANT,Egret, Heron, Partridge, etc. One can also can see other species of waterbirds, & Few crocodiles too.

» Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary

60 kms. south-west of Ahmedabad, is home to flocks of indigenous and migratory birds. IT is a 116 sq. kms. lake. The wetland and lake areas are extensive and during the winter, it is home to migrant geese, ducks and flamingoes. Local waterbirds also come here to feed, but not breed.

» Chilka Lake Bird Sanctuary

The Chilka Lake in Orissa is Asia's largest inland salt-water lagoon. It is doted with the islands and is noted for the many migratory birds which flock to the nesting sanctuary here in winter ( December to January).
