Ranthambore Crisis

* Each village has assigned a tribal shooter (Moghiya) for protecting their crops from herbivore of the park.
* Moghiya's shoot wild herbivore animals when they raid agricultural fields
* Villagers and criminal tribes benefit mutually. Moghiya's protect their crop and villagers protect the Moghiya.
* This nexus can be broken but..is there enough will ?
Moghiya of Uliana Village: this person can provide you
bush meat and perhaps ..more. Price 40/- per kg. for Sambar and 30/- per kg. for Wild boar
Unusual death - Does it not warrant:
*- Registration of a case, proper analysis and a high level investigation
* A detailed report and follow up to prevent more killings.
* Why then the rush to cremate the carcass ?
ECO DEVELOPMENT PROJECT:
* Money given by the World Bank under this project was to be used for works that would help save the Park.* In reality most of the funds were wasted.
* The project hardly made any impact on the Park.
Fuel wood cutting:
* Should EDC funds be used to build a wall to protect private farms - Mei Kallan.* Can old structures not be repaired ? Why build new one - Kela Devi Sanctuary.
* Should EDC funds be used to make a wall around temples - Baler.
* Eco Development Project - is this the correct use of funds meant for the Park.
Unfortunately? :
* The wall is broken in many places.
* The wall does not circumvent the whole park.
* The stone for construction of the wall was mined from prime wildlife areas (Khurras or short and steep valleys) inside the Park.
* Since the integrity of the wall is not maintained it is not a physical barrier. The Forest department calls it a "psychological barrier" but it does not even fulfill that task.
